Nike releases new 2-minute Colin Kaepernick commercial following controversy

Nike set the internet ablaze this week when Colin Kaepernick posted a picture from the company’s upcoming “Just Do It” ad campaign, celebrating the campaign’s 30th anniversary.

This of course sparked a wide range of opinions and reactions, from some people congratulating Nike on their bold move, to others burning their (ostensibly, already purchased) own Nike gear in protest. Even the President weighed in, claiming Nike was getting “absolutely killed” by negative reactions.

Apparently, that has not deterred Nike, as the company today revealed a 2 minute television ad centered around Kaepernick.

Colin Kaepernick made waves in the NFL a few seasons ago when he began taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem, sparking a national debate that still rages to this day about the merits and patriotism of protest. He has since exited the league, largely because no team wants the drama associated with having him on their roster, but he continues to be an important figure in sports and push his message.
