R. Kelly breaks down during CBS This Morning interview; taken into custody after court hearing

R. Kelly was taken into custody after a court hearing Wednesday afternoon regarding unpaid child support. The R&B singer, who was taken away from the Chicago hearing in handcuffs, will be processed and taken to jail later in the evening; to be released from custody, Kelly’s payment — roughly $161,000 — must be paid in full according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.

The court appearance came hours after an interview aired on CBS This Morning featuring a visibly upset Kelly telling his side of the story to Gayle King; it was the singer’s first interview since the aggravated sexual assault allegations spurred by Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries.

“It’s not fair. It’s not fair to nobody. When you beat your case, you beat your case,” Kelly said during the interview.

“Guys, use your common sense, forget the blogs, forget how you feel about me, hate me if you want, love me if you want, but just use your common sense, how stupid would it be? I need to be a monster and hold girls against their will, chain them up in my basement and don’t let them eat and don’t let them out … Stop it,” he said. “Y’all quit playin. Quit playin. I didn’t do this stuff. This is not me y’all. I’m fighting for my f—– life.”
