Nick Cannon defends Kevin Hart’s Oscar host decision; cites hypocrisy of other comedians’ homophobic tweets

Warning: Offensive language from Twitter ahead.

Kevin Hart stepped down from his slated role as host of the 91st Academy Awards recently after outcry for his use of disparaging, anti-gay language on his Twitter account nearly a decade ago. Hart refused to comply after being issued a mandate from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to apologize or they’d find a new host.

Rapper, actor and fellow comedian Nick Cannon came to Kevin Hart’s defense on Twitter on Friday night, citing the hypocrisy of other famous comedians using demeaning language towards gays and facing dissimilar backlash for their actions. “Interesting,” Cannon said, retweeting comedians Chelsea Handler, Sarah Silverman and Amy Schumer. “I wonder if there was any backlash here…”

Interesting🤔 I wonder if there was any backlash here…

Does Nick Cannon bring up a fair point about Kevin Hart facing backlash but not Handler, Silverman and Schumer? Are the circumstances different? Let us know in the comments.
