Holy Macanoli! Children of the ’80s have reason to rejoice: Punky Brewster is back.

Universal Content Productions/NBC Universal is reportedly working on a sequel to the NBC sitcom with original actress Soleil Moon Frye starring once more as Punky. The original series starred Frye as a young girl being raised by a foster parent (George Gaynes) and ran on NBC from September 16, 1984 to March 9, 1986. Punky Brewster was nominated for three Emmy Awards during that time, with two for best children’s program. Frye also voiced the titular Punky in an animated spin-off series, It’s Punky Brewster.

This time around Punky will be a single mother of three kids trying to make it in this crazy world when she comes across a young girl who reminds her very much of her younger self. The series will be written and executive produced by Steve and Jim Armogida (School of Rock TV series). Punky Power!
