Cardi B isn’t the only big name calling for an end to President Donald Trump’s government shutdown (/end sarcasm). Former president George W. Bush and wife Laura delivered pizzas to Secret Service personnel who have been working without pay during the shutdown process Friday afternoon and appealed to “leaders on both sides to put politics aside, come together, and end this shutdown.”

@LauraWBush and I are grateful to our Secret Service personnel and the thousands of Federal employees who are working hard for our country without a paycheck. And we thank our fellow citizens who are supporting them. It’s time for leaders on both sides to put politics aside, come together, and end this shutdown.
Nearly 800,000 federal employees have taken a temporary leave of absence or been obliged to work without a paycheck since the governmental deadlock stemming from President Trump’s request for more funding towards the U.S.-Mexico border wall began on December 22nd.
Does the Secret Service look happy to see George and Laura delivering piping hot ‘zas? According to Wikipedia, under the Former Presidents Act, “All living former presidents and their spouses after Dwight D. Eisenhower are now entitled to receive lifetime Secret Service protection,” so if they don’t, maybe it’s the fact that even though they’re eating pizza, they’re still on the clock (for free.) Or maybe it’s because the former president has bad choice in pizza toppings (and didn’t get it there under 30 minutes or less.)
